It’s Saturday night, you’re on vacation, and you’re ready to hit the nightclubs. You’ve got your dancing shoes and your sparkliest dress on. You’ve got looks to kill: the city won’t know what hit it.

You finally get to the club, only to see that… there’s a line. Not just any line, either; this one snakes around the block. You practically have to squint to see the end.

You don’t have the money or the connections to work with a club promoter. You just want to get into the club and get boogieing. But how do you get on the club guest list without the help of club promoters?

Keep reading to find out how.

Who You Know

The old adage rings true when it comes to club and party guest lists: it’s all about who you know.

The first time you go to a club, go out of your way to get friendly with the doormen, bar staff, DJ, and security. The doormen are particularly important here. After all, they’re the ones who choose who’s in and who’s out.

The bar staff and security have their say, too, though. They can influence the guest list by asking the manager to add your name to it.

Even if they can’t get their name on the list, they’re probably buddies with the doormen, who have the power to let you in anyway!

Collaborate with the Club Promoter or DJ

Maybe you don’t want to pay to work with a club promoter, but still want to seek their help. If that’s the case, there’s an easy option for you.

Club promoters get their own personal guest list in addition to getting others in the door. Often, they’ll add you to that guest list as payment for a simple job.

Some promoters only ask that you hand out flyers for an hour the day of a big club event. This’ll buy your way into the club later. If you do a great job, the promoter will remember you for next time, too.

Guest DJs also get their own list. They often don’t have anyone to put on it, since they’re just visiting. Sometimes, all it takes is a tweet or a direct message to get on their list!

Choose the Right Club

Some clubs only open at night, requiring you to get on the guest list to even think about walking through the door. For these clubs, make sure to check their website for details on their guest list. Some will allow you to apply for their guest list online, like the Maddox guestlist.

Others are different. Some clubs are open during the daytime as day clubs, restaurants, or lounges.

During the transition from day to night, the security staff doesn’t go through the club and kick the daytime guests out. That means that getting there early could get you in for the night!

Your Next Night Out

Working with a club promoter is a surefire way to get into a hot nightclub, but rest assured that it’s not the only way. If club promoters aren’t for you, all you have to do is get creative to get on the list!
