Virginia’s Eastern Shore
Explore Virginia’s east coast. Visit the Assateague Island National Seashore and Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge. Check out the wild ponies and then head to harbor town, Onancock.
Hop on a ferry to Tangier Island where locals speak a rare British dialect. Take an eco-tour to a wild Atlantic barrier island or stroll along the beach in Cape Charles. For those who want off the grid, reserve a cabin on a remote island.
Pennsylvania’s Route 30
Spend several days in Philadelphia and then head west to Lancaster. This place’s known for its Amish farmland. It’s now home to many galleries and artists plus an acclaimed Italian restaurant, Luca.
After Lancaster, head to Susquehannock State Park. Hike there and then head to Gettysburg. You can tour the battlefield on horseback and stay at the landmark Federal Pointe Inn.
