The Tube and buses are a great way to get around the city fast. But make sure to hire the Santander bikes, otherwise known as Boris Bikes.
These bikes are at docking stations on almost every other street corner and it’s a great way to get around. You’ll be able to zip through on the bike lanes and go down hidden alleys you wouldn’t see on a Tube.
7. Get a Curry on Brick Lane
Brick Lane is in the heart of Spitalfields and it’s a part of London everyone needs to visit. It’s home to a thriving Bangladeshi community and best-known for its authentic curry houses.
Locals and tourists alike mingle here and it’s the perfect place to line your stomach before hitting the town. It also has Brick Lane Market, which has amazing street food, antiques and more, so it’s great for bringing gifts back home.
You can also find foot tours to take you around the area, where you can learn more about its rich cultural history.
8. Remember to Buy an Oyster Card
An Oyster Card is an essential item to have when you come to London. It’ll help you get on the Tube, buses, and even some trains to further out areas.
As soon as you arrive in the city, head to a kiosk and buy yourself an Oyster card. Top it up for however long you’ll be there and it’ll ensure you can get around town with ease.
9. Explore Shoreditch
Shoreditch is one of the trendiest and stylish areas of London and somewhere you need to explore. There are so many amazing bars, restaurants, cafes and more to fall in love with.
Grab some fish and chips, explore hidden bars, and drink some of the tastiest local coffees you’ve ever had. You’ll find yourself wanting to come back time and time again.
10. Check out the Skygarden
For a mix of nature and urban life, the Skygarden is the place to go. Specifically, 20 Fenchurch Street has a gorgeous landscaped public gardens you must be sure to visit. It also offers some of the most incredible views of the city.
Entry here is free, but get there early to beat the crowds or you might not get in. Bring your camera and experience the city from a whole new perspective.
