5 Things You Should Do Every Time You Travel

Venice Vacation

Are you ready to go on an adventure? There are some Millenials spending around $5,000 on travel! When spending that kind of dough, you want to make sure you get your money’s worth.

Travel is the best time to do things you may not normally do. Exactly what should you do every time you travel? Follow this vacation checklist for things to do while traveling to help you make the most of your time.

1. Check Out Local Cuisine

While we all love Yelp and Trip Advisor, you want to look for some real gems when exploring a new area. Sometimes the best way to find these places is to chat with the locals. Get recommendations and find out where the locals eat.

You may be surprised at what you can find, and be sure to ask your server for recommendations off the menu. Order something you wouldn’t order at home—if you don’t like it, you can always order something else.

2. Partake in an Outdoor Sport

It’s time to explore the new world around you either by foot, bike, horseback, or boat. Take a hike in an area to see the terrain, or rent a bike to enjoy some fresh air.

If you are near water, try white water rafting or fishing. You can find new fish to catch. Read on here about this fisherman’s success story.

Getting outside is a good way to relieve stress and you may be able to try something you would never do at home.

3. Go to Local Markets and Shops

Try to find a unique souvenir of your trip by going somewhere local. You can find some things if you just go explore. Avoid the tourist trap shops to help you find something that truly represents the new area.

4. Go on a Day Trip

You don’t have to stay in one destination city. Find a nearby city or landmark for a day trip. Visit a local town—sometimes these gems have more to offer.

This is the time to try something new, so find something you would not normally do like visiting a seaside village or hiking, go antique shopping, or visiting a nearby hiking trail off the beaten path.

You may need to do a little research so you don’t get lost, but be spontaneous and have fun!

5. Record Your Memories

Each night, write in your diary and outline your daily adventures. Take photos and add them to the diary. This will let you remember the details for years to come—even the small ones!

Don’t spend too much time on Instagram during the day. You don’t want to miss anything.

There’s Your Vacation Checklist

You will never wonder what to do on vacation with a vacation checklist. Have fun with your trips and don’t plan too far in advance. It’s fun to be spontaneous.

Make sure you check out the local markets, shops, and restaurants. Ask the locals for advice, and you can find some gems you may not find on Google.
