Not only that, we’ll tell you how you can plan these family water days without breaking your budget. Plus, we’ll share several different ways you can make these activities enjoyable for kids of all ages.

Whether you have toddlers, teens, or both, there’s something for everyone on this list. Read on, take some time off, and plan some wholesome, family fun with these tips.

1. Pool Party

There are so many different ways you can do a pool party with your family. If you have an inground pool, you only need to take some time off for the party and stock up on supplies. By supplies, we mean:

  • High-SPF sunscreen
  • Backup sunscreen in case you run out
  • Extra bathing suits
  • Towels
  • Shade umbrellas/gazebo
  • Convenient outdoor eats (picnic/barbecue fare)
  • Lots of water and other drinks
  • Ice chest plus ice (and backup ice)

These are a good idea for any activity on this list, actually. Don’t forget to reapply the sunscreen several times throughout the day.

If you don’t have a pool, you can get a portable one (or a kiddie pool for small kids). Or, research public swimming opportunities in your area. Lastly, invite your kids’ friends and yours.

2. Water Parks

Often, water parks are less trouble and more fun than a pool day. They can even be about the same price, especially if you get season passes.

3. Party Boat

Or, avoid the crowds and have a close, intimate party on the lakefront. If you don’t have your own boat, you can rent one from companies like Clearwater Party Boats.

Enjoy a relaxing day on the water or a peaceful night cruise. Or, visit a nearby island for a family picnic.

4. Beach Fun

If boats aren’t in your budget, take a road trip to the nearest lake or all the way out to the ocean. Be very careful about letting small children in the water, especially in the ocean.

You can rent jet skis and surfboards to have fun with your teens. Or, check out all the ocean life in the tidepools at low tide.

5. Backyard Water Fight

Lastly, we offer the most budget-friendly option of all. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a great time.

Get several buckets and lots of water guns and easy-fill water balloons. Fill the buckets with the filled balloons and get the guns ready.

Now, fight! You can form teams, make rules, even set up some sideways tables for shields. Get some water balloon slingshots and throw in a few kiddie pools for good measure.

The best part is, all of this is extremely cheap. If you go overboard on supplies for the most epic water fight ever, it’s still cheaper than a day at the water park.
