5 Adventurous Water Sports to Try This Summer

Adventurous Water Sports

Summer is here and the time for adventure is at hand!

Shake off the rust and learn to feel thrills again with some adventurous water sports.

After all, the point of a vacation isn’t to sleep the day away (there’s been plenty of that lately) but to hit the water and have some fun.

Adventurous Water Sports

The keyword here is ‘adventurous’ as even the most dangerous of these sports doesn’t hit the big time.

Water acts as a natural net, cushioning blows that would leave you raw and bruised on concrete. So get into the air, beneath the surface, and everywhere in between!

1. Flyboarding

The newest of the water sports on this list, flyboarding combines water and air in a novel way.

It is waterboarding with some extra propulsion. A boat or jet-ski travels in front of you and you stand on a board connected with hoses. The hoses push out high-powered streams of water that push you into the sky.

With a flight ceiling of 70 feet, you can enjoy the breeze as the board gives you a stable ride.

2. Scuba Diving

For those looking for a more at-your-pace thrill, scuba diving is still popular. Gotta check out those reefs and underwater landscapes before they fade away.

Scuba diving is the next closest thing to space travel with the feelings of a weightless void and a self-contained unit keeping you breathing.

Diving is never the same experience twice but it does require skill and equipment. To get the most out of the experience you want a wetsuit that fits well, so check out this size guide and plan ahead.

3. Free Diving

For those that want to test themselves against the elements and check out the underwater vistas is the sport of freediving.

It takes practice and technique to gain depth and time underwater. If you’ve ever gone snorkeling and thought it would be great to experience that freedom but up-close, then you have the bug already.

Championship freedivers have gone hundreds of meters down powered by nothing more than willpower and the air in their lungs.

4. Parasailing

Alright, enough with the thrills you have to work for. Parasailing provides a lot of excitement that lets you just take in the experience.

You get strapped into a harness between a sail and a boat. The boat pulls, the parachute lifts and you float in between.

With tandem rigs, this also happens to be the water sport easiest to do with children.

5. Wakeboarding

Alright, you’ve decided that being pulled by a boat is your bag but you want to do something more challenging with it. Wakeboarding involves the boat and the rope but incorporates surfing the boat’s wake.

This is a good middle step towards surfing, as it teaches a lot of the same balance and how to spot ridable waves. It’s also a good opportunity o justify a surfing wetsuit for later.

Hit the Water

These are but some of the many adventurous water sports available at beaches and lagoons near you.

So get out there and enjoy some summer fun. Then come back here for more ideas about fashion and travel.
