You must be 19 to buy, possess, and smoke weed in most of Canada, including British Columbia. Beware, because sharing with minors is a crime.

There are still relatively few shops which sell cannabis. Retail stores have still not opened in Ontario but the government is moving towards a regulated retail model early next year.
Montreal, the rest of Quebec, and New Brunswick are leading the way when it comes to legal cannabis stores. And, one Canadian TV station has put together its own rather helpful province by province guide to outlets that’ll sell you weed.
It’s possible to buy online, but there are restrictions. For a start, you’ll need a Canadian credit card and address to complete your purchase.
Smoking Weed in Public
This is not always allowed and varies by local jurisdiction. You can’t smoke pot on the sidewalk in several provinces, for example.
Alberta, Ontario, and British Colombia have some of the most relaxed local laws, but even here there are restrictions.

This is still a big, “No, no.”
Driving under the influence of weed is still illegal in Canada. If you’re caught driving while high, you could face big fines and even end up in prison.
